Learn how Ottogrid credits work

What Is an Ottogrid Credit?

Credits are the currency used on Ottogrid that allow you to run AI cells and utilize various tools. Subscription tiers come with a number of credits you receive each month, but you can also purchase additional credits when needed.

What Costs Credits?

By default, cells without AI or tool usage cost 0 credits—you can upload and use them for free. However, when you use AI cells or specific tools, credits are deducted based on the tools used.

Credit Breakdown

AI Cells

  • Costs Based on Tools:

    • Instruction only: 1 credit per cell

    • Web Search: 4 credits per cell

    • Scrape Url: 3 credits per cell

    • File Analysis: 5 credits

    • Data Enrichment: 10 credits per cell

Do I get charged for errors or issues?

No you do not get charged for errors or issues. Here are some of the scenario where you will not get charged for a cell:

  • Errors: You are not charged if a cell fails.

  • N/A: Sometimes the agent is unable to find relevant data for a given cell. in this scenario you will not be charged any credits. A cell will be denoted by n/a if not enough information is available.

Top-Ups and Auto-Renewals

Top-Ups

Now you can purchase additional credits as one-time top-ups directly from your billing page.

Auto-Renewals

Set up automatic credit renewals to ensure you never run out of credits during important workflows. Here’s how it works:

  1. Default Payment Method: Ensure a default payment method is set on the Manage Billing page.

  2. Set Threshold: Choose a threshold (e.g., 50 credits). If your credits fall below this number, the system will automatically purchase your pre-selected credit package.

  3. Select a Package: Choose the credit bundle you'd like to auto-purchase.

Example: If your threshold is set to 50 credits and your current balance drops to 45 credits, the system will automatically purchase the selected package and add it to your account.

What Are Tools?

Tools are data sources or capabilities that enhance the functionality of an AI cell. For example, using the web search tool allows Ottogrid ai agent to search the web for information to generate a more informed response.

Tips to Reduce Credit Costs

  • Simplify Tasks: Break down complex tasks into simpler ones to minimize credit usage.

  • Short Text Outputs: Opt for short text outputs where possible, as they consume fewer resources.

  • Avoid Unnecessary Tools: Only use tools essential for your task. For example, use Instruction Only for simple categorizations.

  • Leverage Test Mode: Use test mode to refine your table's configuration before running it at scale.

Note: We currently do not support providing your own API keys to reduce credit costs, but we are working on this feature.

Do Credits Expire?

  • Subscription Credits: Credits reset at the start of your subscription cycle each month.

  • Unsubscribed Accounts: If you unsubscribe, your remaining credits will be inaccessible until you resubscribe.

  • Top-Ups: Purchased credits do not expire.

How Do I Know How Many Credits a Cell or Tool Costs?

Each column will tell you the cost per cell before you run it.

You can purchase more credits in the following ways:

  • Top-Ups: Buy credit bundles from the billing page.

  • Auto-Renewals: Set up a threshold to ensure your credits are automatically replenished when needed.

Why Do We Use Credits?

We want the platform to be usage-based, reflecting the actual cost of the resources consumed. Not all actions are created equal; some tools or AI cells use more resources or expensive APIs. Using credits ensures fairness and sustainability.
