Unlocking Insights from Documents, Images, and Audio Files

Ottogrid's "File" column type allows you to go beyond traditional data sources by enabling the direct upload and analysis of various file formats. With this feature, you can extract valuable information from documents, images, and even audio files, seamlessly integrating unstructured data into your tables.

Supported File Types

Ottogrid currently supports the following file formats in the File column:

  • Images: PNG, JPEG

  • Documents: PDF

  • Text Files: TXT

  • Audio Files: MP3, WAV, M4A, etc…

This wide range of file types provides the flexibility to incorporate diverse data sources into your tables.

How to Use File Columns

  1. Create a File Column: When setting up your table, choose "File" as the column type. This creates a column where you can upload your files directly.

  2. Upload Your Files: You can upload files via the ‘Add Data’ page or by clicking the "Upload File" icon within a cell in the File column.

  3. Leverage as Inputs for AI Analysis: Connect your File column as an "Input" to other AI-powered columns. Ottogrid’s AI will then extract relevant information from the uploaded files.

Beyond Main Entities: Files as Data Points

You can use the File column in various ways, whether as the main subject of your table or as supporting data points to enrich your analysis.

Example: Enriching a Company Table with Quarterly Reports

  • Main Column: Create a "Company Name" column as your main entity using the "Single-line text" type.

  • File Column: Add a "Quarterly Report" column as a File type to upload PDF reports.

  • Data Extraction Columns: Set up columns such as "Revenue" (Number type) and "Forward-Looking Statement" (Long text type).

  • Connect as Inputs: Link the "Quarterly Report" column to these data extraction columns, allowing Ottogrid to extract data directly from the reports.

This approach lets you enrich your tables by pulling structured insights from unstructured files, such as PDFs or images.
