Web Search Tool

Browse the web for up-to-date information

The Web Search tool allows you to browse the web for information, making it ideal for finding details such as official website URLs, recent news articles, or public profiles. It's designed to help you quickly gather publicly available information and enrich your dataset.

How to Use the Web Search Tool

  1. Create a Web Search Column: Start by setting up a column with the Web Search tool enabled.

  2. Provide Clear Prompts: Use precise prompts to instruct the AI on what information to find. For example, "Find the official website of [Company Name]."

  3. Run the Tool: The AI will search the web based on your instructions and populate the column with relevant data.

Good Use Cases

  • Finding a Company’s Official Website: "What is the official website URL of [Company Name]?"

  • Retrieving Recent News: "Find the latest news article about [Company Name]."

  • Identifying a Person's LinkedIn Profile: "Find the LinkedIn profile for [Full Name]."

Not-So-Good Use Cases

  • Deep Data Extraction: The Web Search tool is not ideal for extracting detailed information from a specific webpage. Instead, use the Scrape URL tool for this task.

  • Summarizing Information: Avoid using Web Search when you want to synthesize content or summarize multiple data points; the Instructions Only tool is better suited for that.

Tips for Effective Use

  • Use clear and concise prompts.

  • Define any limitations within your prompt (ex. ‘Only use reddit for your reviews’)
